Marc Chagall. Opere russe 1907-1924. Fondazione Brescia Musei, Museo di Santa Giulia State Russian museum. With the participation of Sepherot Foundation (Liechtenstein)

19 november 2015—16 january 2016

On the one hand Marc Chagall, lyrical painter and surreal protagonist of the twentieth century, on the other Dario Fo, Nobel Prize in literature, playwright, writer, but also a painter in love with Chagall, whose Fo feels particularly close to the taste the fantastic, the paradox, the surreal and the impossible.

The dialogue takes the form of two separate exposures, placed in close relation to each other: the first displays works by the artist Marc Chagall told himself through a series of excerpts from his autobiography "Ma Vie", written between 1921 and 1922; in the second Dario Fo he tells the works of Chagall through the texts, illustrated with drawings and precious paintings, created specifically for the 'exposure. On display 33 works, 17 paintings and 16 drawings (as well as two notebooks with drawings and poems recently found and exhibited for the first time to the public) ranging from 1907 to 1924, from Vitebsk (birthplace of Chagall) in Paris, where the 'artist moved in 1924.

The public can admire some of the most important masterpieces by Marc Chagall, essential works to understand the artistic development of the Russian master, such as "view from the window in Vitebsk" of 1908, The "Lovers in blue" of 1914, the "Walk "of 1917-1918, the '' Jew in pink" of 1915 and many others.

Alongside the exhibition of Chagall, visitors have the opportunity to live another unique event specifically designed and created for the occasion: the Nobel Prize winner Dario Fo has created over 20 paintings, accompanied by 15 preparatory sketches and a story about the life and the work of Chagall. An extraordinary tribute, pictorial and narrative, the imaginative Russian artist, which will be celebrated also by a single class show to be held January 16, 2016 at the Teatro Grande in Brescia.

A meeting between two genes.

The exhibition is curated by Eugenia Petrova, the State Russian Museum
